I had a terrible night last night: major aches and pains, bad TOM cramps, a migraine headache that wouldn’t go away no matter what I took, nightmares every time I drifted off to sleep… and today food tastes terrible. The blueberries & blackberries I had for breakfast tasted good but the yogurt and eggs tasted disgusting. I am not sure why.
Add to the above this morning’s new symptom – backache and neckache.
I don’t know what’s going on but I hope it passes soon. I haven’t been this physically miserable in a while!

Just a quick update… I’m still a bit under the weather. Eating lighter than usual (1 to 2 medium meals a day, which I tend to do while sick). I may hit the doctor’s tomorrow but I am dreading the possibility that they will probably want to put me on more antibiotics. But something’s gotta be done.
I am looking forward to getting on the scale in a few days though because I am certain that I have lost a little more weight, perhaps a couple more pounds. I will have to wait until my TOM is over.

I have started drinking these ^^^ shakes every day or two. (Got a bunch of sample packs at Whole Foods). They are extremely healthy and full of vitamins. Click here the vitamin, mineral and superfood content. Although the shake is green-colored, it’s not bad tasting – better than the chocolate GNC shakes, in fact!

Yeahhhhhhhhhh. I’m sick again. This time, who knows what it is… a cold? Flu? The same sinus infection rearing it’s ugly head? It seems to be in my chest area AND sinuses. I woke up today in so much pain and so drained of energy that I could barely move.
It really makes no sense whatsoever. I eat healthy fruits and veggies as often as I want to. I eat whole grains. I eat meat. I take vitamins. I get plenty of sleep. I am not depressed. I don’t drink alcohol anymore (except for occasional relapses that last one night).
Perhaps the crazy weather change caused it… yesterday it was 70-something degrees, and then in a space of 2 hours dropped below 20 degrees. Of course being the weather buff I am, I had to go out in it several times. My boyfriend is a smoker and since I live in a smoke-free building, he has to go out onto my 9th floor balcony to have a few puffs. I accompanied him each time, marveling at the icy temps and near-zero wind chill.
Blah.

I don’t think I am ever going to get over this ENT infection… it’s really, really getting me down. At this point I am literally coughing up phlegm at various times throughout the day (sorry, I know that is disgusting!) The stuff is draining down the back of my throat and if I don’t spit/cough it out, it nearly chokes me. I have decided not to eat or drink anything with dairy in it, which seems to excasberate the problem.
If things don’t improve by tomorrow I am going back to the doctor.
Blah blah blah the same old thing, I know, I know… I am always complaining about something in this damn blog!

“The Cold” is now hitting full force. Nose is being blown approximately every 30 seconds – and that is AFTER having taken an antihistamine. Without the antihistamine, my nose-blowing was a nonstop activity.
Sleep is pretty much not happening. I slept on and off all day yesterday (until about 5pm) because I was too lightheaded and achy to get up. Now it’s 9am the next morning and there is no way I can lay down AND breathe at the same time.
I am so disappointed – I thought all this time that EmergenC would keep me from getting viral infections like cold and flu.
Ha!
I’m now worrying about the possible muscle loss I will sustain if this darn cold drags on for a week which will not allow me to exercise. I worked really hard to build this muscle… I don’t want to lose it, and I know I will lose some of it if I go even a week without exercising, or if this “no-eating” thing continues.

What is it about November and dieting that always gets me sick?! (This happened last year as well). Anyway, I seem to have come down with a massive head/throat cold in the space of the last 24 hours, despite taking large amounts of Vitamin C for the past year. My throat hurts bad enough that I can’t really eat anything, and haven’t since last night. The guy I’ve been seeing is bring me over some Gatorade and Advil in a bit… I have lots of chicken soup here but am feeling too crappy to eat it.
I hate being sick! It sucks. But it seems to happen every time I start losing weight. And also this time of the year…

I mean, the cure is worse than the damn illness! Sheesh. I just spent the past several hours being nauseated, plus I have a terrible headache that won’t go away despite 4 Advil. I’m about to break into my stash of Tramadol if this keeps up.

I just came home from the pharmacy where I was filling a prescription for Amoxicillan. To make a long story short, I have been having some symptoms in my sinuses and left ear that I’ve been ignoring for a while now. Plus my neck glands have been swollen, and I got tired of it today and headed over to a doctor’s office. Diagnosis: ear, sinus and throat infection. Solution: antibiotics.
Grrrrrrreeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat.
So today’s exercise plans are coming to a halt. However, I will still take a walk tomorrow, but I hope the antibiotics don’t kick my butt like they sometimes do. I plan to eat plenty of soup, yogurt and sandwiches for the next 10 days – my standard “on antibiotics” diet.
So, here is the picture I promised. This is me at 5′4 1/2 feet tall and about 117 pounds.

The coloring is off in the picture because it was scanned in – it was not originally a digital photo. I was really tan that summer though and also in great shape. Anyway, I’d love to have that body back someday… perhaps with a bit more toned arms though.

Well it looks like that flu or respiratory infection or whatever has gotten the rest of the country sick has finally managed to work its way in… I had a moderate fever last night and feel like utter crap this morning. It may be a sinus/ear thing because I am stuffed up. I’m hoping it’s only a cold but colds don’t cause fevers like this…
I’m in Columbus, about to leave. I stayed in the Hilton here and it was absolutely wonderful – this is one of the nicest Hilton hotels I’ve ever stayed in! (Branson MO is the best, for the record). I’m a gold honors member so they put me up on the 9th floor – concierge level. Anyway they have a healthy menu which gives you low calorie and/or low carb options. Right now I am eating their mango oatmeal, which is 270 calories and 8 grams of fat.
So I have about a 5.5-6.5 hour drive today, depending on traffic, etc. My hotel tonight is one I’ve been staying at for the past few road trips, just outside St. Louis MO. I’ll be home tomorrow early afternoon. I hope I can hold out on this damn sickness, whatever it is. I’m drinking EmergenC drinks morning and night and taking advil for the fever and pain. It’s the grogginess getting to me most right now.
