My ’spartan’ diet is failing. I am having trouble staying disciplined for some reason! Arghghghghghg. It’s 5pm and I’ve had about 1125 calories. That in itself isn’t bad at all but I’m still hungry and craving sugar like crazy. Grrrr. And I’ve eaten salty crap today too.
Sigh. Oh well. What can you do? Here’s a pic of Sunshyne riding in the car with us this afternoon:
(And yes, that’s my hand in the photo, and yes I’m aware it looks puffy/fat. My hands and everything else for that matter always photograph tons bigger than they are, I don’t know why!
)
Her face looks SO much better than it did only weeks ago. She’s been suffering from a skin/fur condition (I can’t recall the name of) and just a few weeks ago, her face had lots of pink splotches where she had lost her fur. It was so sad.
But now her face is nearly back to normal! She naturally has white fur with splotches of black and a little pink in some areas.
Unfortunately the fur/skin condition on the rest of her body is healing a LOT slower. The vet put her on meds and they aren’t working as fast as I wish they would. I hate thinking about her suffering in any way.
Anyway… this is my last update for the day. I really hope my appetite can calm down and my sugar cravings will go away. I think I’m going to go guzzle two full cups of water and see if that helps. I am planning to head back to my sister’s in another couple hours, then to a meeting. I will refuse offers to go out and eat after the meeting. Well either that or just go out and have a salad like the other time. We’ll see…

chew gum. it keeps your mouth occupied and you won’t have cravings. buy 3 different flavours for options.
A, I can’t chew gum anymore due to some dental and crown work, but thank you for that great suggestion! I also don’t chew it ’cause of the sugar and/or the aspartame they seem to put in almost all gums nowadays.
Hey Rian,
Ive got a general question to you and hopefully you dont get me wrong. I like your blog very much but I liked it much much more when you were writing about raw food and I remember that you were feeling much better those days. But your hair was messy and your nails as well and you added some dairy…. and later meat…. so… why? I mean, youve been on raw food and theres even so much gourmet raw food which you can eat without guilt and wich definetely makes you happy. Im really curious about that so please let me know! Thanks already in advance! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
One day at a time, hun. You have so much on your plate, besides your diet; between the high blood pressure, occasional drinking, things that haunt you about your past, relationships that were not always kind to you…all this and more that you are addressing with professionals. It’s an awful, awful lot for one woman to deal with. But you ARE. You will make it, diet and all. xo
snack on something sweet and go for a walk the next time it happens. I personally love to walk around my neighborhood with a smoothie in one hand. It is sweet, nutritious, low in calories and satisfies me. Plus I get an extra “workout” (well, almost) and the weather here is just amazing so it’s a pleasure to be outside at the moment!
Imo such low calorie diets are all predestinated to fail…I understand that you want to lose weight really fast for health reasons…but this way will leave you frustrated…it is a damn circle….you diet, you fall off the wagon, you gain, you get depressed, etc etc….and at the end of the day you won’t lose any weight or only reeeally slowly. not satisfying! for my personal experience I can say that the only time I struggled with weight was the time I have put myself under pressure and I started to diet…for just losing 3kgs…2 years later I weighted nearly 10kgs more than at the time I actually started some sort of diet. so and now I don’t diet at all, I eat healthy stuff mostly, and if I crave some junk food, I’ll just go for it and I don’t deprive myself anymore…because during my diet, no “bad” stuff was allowed…and I ended up eating a whole glass of nutella…a couple times a week…I would never every do that now…and surprisingly I lost all the weight I gained…within 6 months…and I felt never hungry…I bet you would be much more successful if you wouldn’t follow a certain diet and don’t worry about calories…just listen to your body…I know it sounds stupid…but believe me this comes from a person that really had a messed up eating behavior for years…and now I am really able to trust my body…
melmel, thanks for your opinion. I haven’t been able to lose any real weight (up and down the same darn 5-7 pounds) for so long now that it doesn’t seem to matter what I do anyway. Anyway, this real low cal stuff is temporary, doctor monitored (sort of) and I’m going to continue doing it no matter what anyone tells me on here. I’ve never stuck to a super low cal diet for any length of time, but I’m going to do this for a few weeks. I’ve already had a couple of ‘fail’ days, but I’m not upset or beating myself up or binging. It’s no biggie. Life goes on, I’ll keep trying, keep taking my vitamins and keep an eye on things. I’m doing this for BP, not to ‘be skinny’, as mentioned several times in previous posts.
Judith, good question… although I did try gourmet raw food at one point and it just didn’t ‘jive’ with me, if that makes sense. I eventually plan to get back to my very high-fruit and mostly raw intake, but it’s taking some time. I honestly feel I have to stabilize my weight, BP and alcohol issue for several months before embarking on something radical like that again.
fusionvorfreude, thanks! Although I don’t really live in an area that is conductive to walking. (Except around my complex, which isn’t much, maybe 15 minutes to get all the way round it).
But yeah I’m adding in more fruit for the sugar cravings. I’ve been carrying mini mandarins around and snacking on them.
ValerieSara, thanks!
