After-Dentist Update

Whew! I was in the dentist’s chair for almost six hours today! The sedation plus all the work is what took so long.

The sedation went well, although they had to give me a bit more after I got there, then a bit more several hours later. I had an oxygen mask over my nose the entire time (hey – I wonder if I got any benefits from breathing in 5-6 hours worth of pure oxygen? Haha.) I was awake but kind of just drifting there, daydreaming, not caring about anything on a nice comfortable cloud. By the end of the day though I was hurting pretty badly from being in the chair all those hours, plus my mouth was a hurtin’ from all the work. My sister drove me to fill my prescriptions even though I was still groggy. By the time I got home though, I was pretty much 95% coherent.

Last night’s 2 Valiums made me very nice and comfortable. I had trouble falling asleep because my mind was racing, but I was extremely comfortable and relaxed. Valium is some GOOD stuff.

Tonight’s dinner (along with soup and lots of water):

Ice cream and Vicodin

I have two temporary crowns to deal with for the next three weeks, so I have to be careful of what I eat. Nothing too hard or sticky. Bran flakes should be OK since I drown them in vanilla almond milk.

I hate the dentist so much that last night I even had a bad dream about teeth and dentists – even though its you who had to go! I dread it so much.
Hope your mouth doesn’t hurt too much today. Take care

Thanks angela! Yikes, I’m sorry to hear about your bad dream. I think the key is to find a good dentist that has a good, caring and calm/peaceful atmosphere. Trust me, I’m a basket case myself when I go, but I’m soon calmed just by the friendly staff. Every time I walk into my dentist’s office, it is peaceful, everyone looks you directly in the eye while they talk to you, and they are calm and very friendly. (Not fake friendly). I’ve been to dentist offices where all the staff is brisk, ‘fake’ friendly and cold. Not my cup of tea! Maybe you could search around for a better dentist that will put you at ease?

The only pain I have today is gum pain where they did 2 of the crowns and a gum treatment. Nothing that a couple of Advil won’t get rid of. :)
