OK, I tried… and the truth is, I just don’t like kale. I had it again in a smoothie this morning and it was just… yucky. It overpowers the fruit in the smoothie, oddly enough.
So I’m just going to stick with other greens like chard (which may actually be slightly more nutritious than kale), spinach, dandelion greens, etc.
I made a smoothie this morning with the following ingredients:
- 167 grams frozen strawberries
- 149 grams mango
- 227 grams cantaloupe
- 208 grams oranges
- 94 grams kale
- a few ice cubes
Total calories: 372.
I got a nice burst of energy about 20 minutes after finishing the smoothie.
But definitely no more kale. It’s such a rough and scratchy vegetable, I don’t see how it can be good for our digestive systems anyway?
I made my sister, niece and I a smoothie yesterday evening before we left to get the puppy. Since they aren’t keen on greens, I made it with: a banana, pineapple chunks, strawberries and a few slices of orange. They really liked it. That was my dinner (along with a few sunflower seeds).
I have a ton of tomatoes I need to use in a soup or something today. More on that later!

You might wanna try “massaged” kale. Google for a recipe, or there’s one on my blog. Basically you massage the kale with a little bit of cold pressed olive oil and some sea salt and it relaxes a bit so it’s not as rough. Still raw, and so delicious. I also put some bragg’s on it as well. And avocado is a good addition too.
if you think that people waste too much time worrying about how they look and things like that (and see it as a negative thing), why do we see all the ads in your blog saying GET A FLAT STOMACH or ARE YOU FAT? I LOS 5LBS PER DAY USING BLABLABLAH
and please leave this comment, it’s not rude, it’s just a question.
Caroline, unfortunately those are the ads that my advertisers run. I don’t have much control over those. They pay the site bills. Without them, there would be no site since the paparazzi photos are extremely expensive. (And so is my web hosting account).
I don’t know Maggie, I am kind of “off” kale for now. Maybe sometime in the future I will give it another shot and use one of the ‘massaged kale’ recipes.
what a shame, i LOVE kale. i make kale salads with homemade vinaigrette (use apple cider because its easely found organic and cold pressed olive oil) and eat it, i love it.
anyways, if you dont like them, let it be. i myself hate bell peppers (sadly, they are so beautiful and healthy) and dont get me started on cucumbers
as for your niece, try to make her a banana shake with soy milk/nut milk, banana, cocoa powder and spinach… she wont be able to taste or see the spinach and yet will absorb all those amazing nutrients :**
have a great day rian!
