What A Day…

Whew! Today was insane but really good. First off, this was my breakfast:

My friend P picked me up around 12:30pm today. Now, something pretty funny happened… I had to go to the Sprint store near the Beverly Center to get my Blackberry Pearl fixed. One of the buttons had come off yesterday. So anyway, those of you not familiar with LA should know that people out here often judge a person based on their clothing, accessories, cars and looks. I was way under-dressed today – I wore sweat-pant capris and a casual blue baby T-shirt. So when I walked in the store, the girl behind the front desk area at first treated me dismissively – she took my name and told me to go wait in the waiting area. However… as I was walking off, she noticed that I had a cute black Fendi bag. She said “OMG I LOVE your bag! It is so cute!!!” I smiled and said “Thanks”.

Here’s the funny part… all of a sudden, she was really friendly. She said, “Don’t worry – I’ll tell [insert name here] to help you right away.” So I went to the waiting area and was helped almost immediately. There were people ahead of me still sitting there.

Anyway, something like this would only happen in LA!

So I left my phone there to get the entire front plate replaced (the keys and screen). P and I drove over to the Mann’s Chinese theater where Michael Jackson’s Hollywood star was so we could see all the flowers, candles, notes and other stuff that people left there. The place was a total mob scene. Here are some pictures (click for larger sizes):

There’s a picture of the Mann’s theater, plus several photos of the memorial areas for MJ. I didn’t take pictures of most of the crowds simply because it would have been rude to point a camera at random people. But trust me when I say it was MOBBED. There were police there as well.

Anyway, after that we went back to pick up my phone (and I received similar service), then we went to various popular spots, like Robertson Blvd, Rodeo Drive, back to Hollywood Blvd (where we went by Eva Longoria’s restaurant Beso among other places), etc. We finally stopped at a Whole Foods and I picked up a couple of things. They had TONS more raw food stuff than the store I go to in Tulsa!

All in all it was a really fun day. P is a great person. I don’t know if I mentioned it before, but we were in a relationship for 2 years back when I was 19/20 years old. Anyway, we’ve kept in touch over the years, even after I moved out of California back in 2002. We’ve both changed a bit over the years but still have a lot of fun hanging out. He’s a very healthy, level-headed person. He rides 18 miles a day on his bike, so he’s in great shape. (He’s not a vegetarian or raw-foodist, though).

Anyway, it was a fun and crazy day. I got plenty of exercise since we did a lot of walking. I ate pretty well today – had only fruit and fruit smoothies until dinner, where I splurged a bit on a tomato, goat cheese, bell pepper and eggplant panini sandwich.
