in Meals, Updates

I have decided that I’ll be heading back to New Hampshire August 29th or 30th of this month. But it will only be for a week or two, in which time I’ll be cleaning out my Nashua apartment, packing the thousands of books I own and shipping them out here somehow. Before leaving I am going to have to order several bookcases and have them delivered here. Thankfully I do have the room for them here in this apartment. I’ve also decided to renew my lease for this apartment for another 6 months. Management of my building said I can move up to a higher floor anytime during my lease, so maybe I’ll wait until the end of the year and then try and get a 2-bedroom on a higher floor.

These are things I’ve been stressing out about for a while now and couldn’t make a decision about to save my life… but this morning I got up and had all the answers, for some reason!

So anyway, I’ve also decided to try and lose 7 pounds by the end of the month. Perhaps that is too much to lose in a short period, but I’m going to give it my all.

My days’ meals look something like this: organic brown rice and 4 ounces of fruit for breakfast, dried apples (or another piece of fruit) and a tiny serving of raw sunflower seeds for a snack, organic soup of some type for lunch, and chicken with grilled veggies for dinner. Additional snacks include a baby bel Laughing cow cheese and raw pumpkin seeds.

Sounds healthy enough to me… raw seeds and nuts are supposed to be very good for you if eaten in moderation (because of high calories). Also, the rice keeps my blood sugar nice and steady during my workout.

So… 7 pounds in 17 days… is it doable?

7 pounds in 7 days is a tall order. I say it’s worth a shot, but whatever happens, just make sure to not beat yourself up, but rather celebrate your efforts. :-)

I wouldn’t label it as doable or not, more like irrelevant. If you lost 7 lbs of fat and gained 7 lbs of lean muscle mass would you be happy? If you lost 1 lb of fat, 2 of muscle, and 4 of water weight, would you be happy?

I don’t want to be a Debbie Downer, your eating and exercise look great! You sound like you’re on your way, I just hope your diet is going as well for you mentally as it is physically. Just speaking from personal experience, it wasn’t until I stopped counting and threw away my ‘deadlines’ that I finally lost the 6 measly lbs I had been at war with for years.

By the way, ever tried quinoa? I just tried it the other day and it’s the new brown rice as far as I’m concerned. For about 150 cal you get almost twice the volume of rice, plus 5 g fiber and 5 g protein. It’s the only plant food with all of the essential amino acids too. It’s like rice, but round and a little crunchy. Smells kind of funky when you cook it, but it tastes great. Sorry, I promise I’m not a quinoa salesperson, I’m just sort of in love with it right now. :P

Good luck anyhow! And congrats on wherever you are in 12 days :D
