Time To Lose Some Weight
May 25th, 2008 by Rian | Filed under Miscellaneous.OK, it’s been hotter than hell out here in the good ole’ Midwest, and I just cannot handle it. The humidity is disgustingly awful and makes me feel like I am in a sauna anytime I step outdoors even for one moment.
Every extra pound I have on me makes it all the more unbearable.
It’s officially summer in less than a month, and I’d like to lose an additional 10 pounds by then. That is my first goal. That’s the only goal I will make for now. Once I accomplish it - and I will - I will make another goal.
I will get on the scale first thing tomorrow when I get up. I’m dreading it since it’s PMS week, but oh well.
So, it’s no more Mexican food for me for a while. No more ordering in, unless it’s from a healthy restaurant. A totally cool and awesome friend I made recently gave me a huge bag of Popsicles and a bag of lifesavers to eat if/when I get sugar (or alcohol) cravings. They are both fat free and very low in calories. Providing I don’t go overboard, they will come in handy!
Today I did badly - I had yogurt and cantaloupe for breakfast. But then it went downhill from there.
Somehow I’m going to have to acclimate myself to this horribly hot and miserable weather. As a transplanted New Englander, I have no choice. Perhaps I should take a walk along the river tomorrow, for a start? It’s supposed to be 91 degrees and probably 70% humidity, which is absolutely unbearable. But I need to get used to it somehow. I’m gonna be here for a while…

91 degrees is unbearable? I say you are lucky.
Yes, when you are used to it being in the 20’s and 30’s out! I was just getting use to 70’s…
did you try miso soup as part of a diet? a big bowl (w/ wakame, and mushrooms for example) - has very little calories, lots of nutrients and vitamins and totally fills you up. if you eat some in the beginning of the meal, and then wait some, often you are not hungry at all after. and it only takes 15 min to make.
I hate the feeling of being bloated when it is hot + humid outside! It makes me feel even more disgusting.
A few things I do to stay away from overeating on hot days like these: chew gum, suck on (flavored) ice cubes, arrange and put aside all the food I’m going to eat that day ahead of time, always keep a bowl of strawberries or grapes around the house in case of sugar cravings, wear tight clothing at home to raise body awareness (there’s nothing that spoils appetite like looking down at your own tummy bulge while eating and wishing ).
To complete that last part: …and wishing your tummy was flat.
Not to be rude but arent you in oklahoma? That is definitely not the midwest. I am from illinois…and wisconsin, illinois, iowa and so on is the midwest
Sarah, I have no idea. Some call this the midwest, some call it the southwest. I tend to switch back and forth, personally. (Does it really matter?!)
Lili- I’ve heard of that soup and saw it in a health food store. I will check it out the next time I see it. Thanks!
