Nooooooooo!

February 13th, 2008 by Rian | Filed under Miscellaneous.

A lot transpired today since my last update… first and foremost, New Hampshire had a bad winter storm that turned into rain at 34 degrees, so everything is seriously flooded and there is ice and slush everywhere. My parking lot alone has about 5 inches of the stuff.

So earlier… I tried to get my car out, but the lot was so flooded that there was no way I was getting out anytime soon. So I took a cab down to the gym. I missed out on getting my nails done, getting a new phone, my friend’s AA meeting, and EVERYTHING else I was supposed to do. EVERYTHING!

I called my landlord and asked him if they were going to plow or do anything to the lot. Truth be told, everyone else I know in this city doesn’t have this parking lot problem. Their landlords plow, let them know WHEN they are going to plow and put sand and salt down.

Well, my landlord - who owns several buildings in downtown Nashua - apparently had several calls like this already and was in a terrible mood. He started YELLING at me and was so mean about things that I couldn’t believe it. I’ve rented from him for THREE YEARS now! I don’t deserve this. I mean, he constantly gripes about all his loser tenants that don’t pay their rent. I am NOT one of those. I pre-pay my rent and I don’t cause trouble! What the hell?! He should damn LOVE me. But no. He was going on and on, saying that I needed to lighten up. After all, some people’s basements were flooded because of the storm. New Hampshire is under water. Yada yada yada. I should be happy that my only problem is that I couldn’t get my car out!

Yeah, he said those things and more. So I hung up on him, believe it or not. I don’t deserve to be spoken to that way by someone whom I pay my rent to. I’ll probably get an eviction notice tomorrow with my luck.

Moving on…

So… around 7:30, I decided it was time to get my car out. I had things to do. So… I went out there. I shoveled behind my car, scraped/pushed about 3 inches of heavy ice/snow off my car. Burned about 200 calories doing all that stuff. The entire time I was ankle-deep in icy water and ice. After all that, I decided I was good to go.

Nope. My car got stuck in the middle of the lot, blocking everyone. So, I had to shovel more icy crap. It didn’t work, the car still wouldn’t move. Then I stepped on a patch of bumpy ice and my ankle went sideways.

Agony.

??!!!

So I called my friend B, crying. He came and rescued me and the car. He pulled it out onto the street. And yes, even he couldn’t get the car out of that icy mess for about 15 minutes.

I iced my ankle for a while, then drove him home because I was supposed to meet a friend of mine for a sandwich. So I did. After all, I hadn’t eaten anything since right after the gym (cottage cheese and a protein shake) and knew I needed some sustenance. Although still no appetite. I managed to eat 1/2 of 1/2 of a veggie sub. (1/4 of a sub).

I am not sure if the ankle is sprained, but it’s slightly swollen on the side and hurts a little. (At first it hurt badly). I am icing it on and off. I will be SO PISSED OFF if it’s hurt and I can’t go to Boston tomorrow. Also, I refused to park back in the lot, so I’m parked on the street and will probably get a ticket. I don’t even care at this point. If I do get one, I plan to bring the ticket into my landlord’s office and slap it down on his desk. I AM NOT GOING ANYWHERE NEAR THAT TERRIBLE ICE PIT OF A PARKING LOT. I already have to walk with a slight limp. No wayyyyy.

?$^#!!??@

I’m hoping tomorrow will be a better day…

You could check if your landlord is legally obligated to clear the lot in a specific amount of time and then report him to the licence and inspections people or just threaten to take him to court…especially if your ankle is really hurt!

He sounds like a JERK! Some people are just miserable people. Sorry about your ankle! :(
