Vigorous Exercise
October 8th, 2007 by Rian | Filed under Miscellaneous.I’ve been doing some crazy intense stationary bike workouts the past few days… and I’m getting addicted to it. I’ve also been doing more walking, although it’s not as easy here in Nashua. Although tomorrow I am planning to go for a long walk in the park area where there are several bike/walking paths. The trees are changing dramatically. But it might rain again tomorrow… I’ll have to wait and see.
I’ve decided to wait to get on the scale until I can fit into a size 7/8. The other day, I got on the scale only to discover I have gained another 2 pounds. I mean, how depressing is it. I know it’s probably muscle, but… damn. I need to get out of the “overweight” BMI category, which will happen when I hit 149.
Already I feel major tightening and firming in my butt and thigh areas. My body is so quick to build muscle for some reason and lose inches (although not scale weight). Biking intensely is seriously one of the best exercises for me. Last summer, I was a size 8 in June, maybe around 145 pounds or so. Then after only one month of riding my bicycle (almost daily), I suddenly fit into a size 6 - and a 4 in some cases. My scale weight only went down 5 pounds, if that!
And I accomplished that without changing my eating habits. Plus, I was drinking a lot last summer.
Anyway, my days of laziness are over… I’ve been exercising regularly now for over 3 weeks. It was difficult to get it all started, but now that I have, I do not intend to stop. In fact, I am planning to work myself up to hour-long stationary bike rides. Yesterday I did 40 straight minutes and felt awesome - at level 10. (The bike goes up to 17 levels).
This week, I’ve reduced my calorie intake quite dramatically, to about 1000 a day. Normally I wouldn’t go so low, but at this point, I need to lower my weight a bit. Next week I will go back up to about 1200. I am just trying to get some actual scale weight loss jump-started.
As stated in previous posts, I really, really need to lower my blood pressure. I’m eating very low sodium, taking garlic and electrolyte pills… and exercising. Actual scale weight loss is needed to reduce my blood pressure further (according to my doctor). If I don’t, I will have to go on medication. And I refuse!! I will do this naturally. ![]()
