Day 9 Recap

June 23rd, 2007 by Rian | Filed under Miscellaneous.

Thanks for all the super-nice comments! :) In case you were wondering, yes, I’m still losing and still alcohol-free.

I’m going to be honest with you all now about my weight. Remember how in this post I told you all that I had shot back up 4 pounds and that it was water weight? It turns out that it wasn’t water weight after all. My “time” didn’t start for another two or three weeks later, after all. So it was pure fat. I ended up gaining an additional 4 pounds a couple weeks later, likely due to PMS, which brought me back up to… my original start weight of 172.

So, when I started my low carb diet last week, I weighed a whopping 172. Again. I was even too ashamed to admit it on here.

However… I am very excited to say that as of today - 9 days later on low carb - I weigh… 161.

That is the lowest weight I’ve ever seen on my digital scale, which I bought in April.

I have lost literally 11 pounds now. Obviously, some was water weight.

And yes, I’m doing the popular Kimkins diet that was mentioned on The Skinny Website. I mainly eat lean protein, eggs, and veggies. I also cheat occasionally with cheese and low-carb yogurt.

But here’s the amazing part: I literally have lost at least 1 pound, per night, since starting the diet. (Except for yesterday, when I was exactly the same weight as the day before). Most days I lose about 1.2 pounds. I know it will slow down a bit, but it’s sooooooo intoxicating to see the scale register a lower and lower and lower number most days.

I think, however, that I will only stay on the diet until I hit 150 pounds, because it IS a little extreme. I sometimes feel a little weak. But overall I feel 1000% better than I did before starting the diet. My clothes are getting loose and my stomach is nearly flat again!

Once I hit 150, I will likely switch over to a semi-low carb plan where I eat fruits and nuts for my carbs, and everything else protein. It will slow the loss but that’s OK. (I guess). We’ll see when I get there…

Hey Girl on a diet -
    Where’d you go this week?

Just remember not to eat too little calories, since not only it is unhealthy but it will also slow down your fat burn and you’ll use your muscles instead as energy, which of course no one wants ;) I’d tell you to later on do the thing you said, eat fruits as carbs but I’d recommend for you to also eat a small amount, like two small potatoes or a bit of pasta when you have dinner. It won’t effect your weight loss but it will make you feel more energetic and that will make staying on the diet easier :)

I’m doing Phase I of the South Beach diet…sounds alot like your Kimkins. I too have had major success…so far 15 lbs. in 6 weeks, not bad…the first 9 happened in the first 2 weeks. I gave myself a week “off” on the 3rd week and allowed myself a multi-grain bagel and a few unauthorized meals…I gained 3 lbs. back but now that I’m on Phase I again, I’ve lost those 3 lbs. and then some. Actually it was a much needed transition to help me get past the plateau that I seemed to have hit after week 2 and now I’m losing again at a great rate. Keep it up girl, you’ve totally got this!
