Scale Fluctuations

April 25th, 2007 by Rian | Filed under Miscellaneous.

An interesting thing I noticed in my thrice-daily weighings: my weight fluctuates regularly throughout the day up to 2.5 pounds. I wonder if that is normal?

Today’s weighings cheered me up immensely… I’ll reveal why on Friday, when I weigh myself officially and post it here. :)

Today is going well so far. I got up around 10am and have so far eaten about 650 calories. I am planning on eating dinner at my friend J’s house, and I’ve allotted myself 500 calories at her house. She is preparing oven-baked, skinless, baked chicken, which is pretty healthy. I usually have one chicken breast which according to this site is about 86 calories. I’m sure she’ll also be making some sort of pasta side dish, but they all come with calorie counts. 500 is plenty of calories to play around with!

I just did a 20 minute intense bicycle workout and feel amazing!

    Hey, Chica!

Yes, 2-3 pounds of weight fluctuation within one day is TOTALLY normal. Reasons include hydration levels, what is in your digestive tract (ie. if food you’ve eaten has been metabolized or “eliminated”), and some other things I can’t remember. I was so thrilled when I found this out and realized I should definitely weigh myself at the same time of day each weigh-in.

Looking forward to reading about your journey!
