WorkOuts and Stuff

March 16th, 2007 by Rian | No Comments | Filed in Miscellaneous

My stationary bike was delivered on Tuesday… and since then, I’ve done two workouts on it. Keep in mind I’m in terrible shape at the moment, so on Wednesday, I did a ten-minute workout and burned like 35 calories. That was on level 1 and 2. It winded me, just those damn 10 minutes.

However, yesterday (Thursday) I did a 14 minute workout and burned 60 calories. That probably seems like nothing to a lot of you out there… but I felt awesome after it. (Keep in mind I’ve been sitting on my ass for months on end doing nothing). I also ate pretty healthy the entire day.

Tomorrow (Friday), I plan to do a 20 minute workout. On the exercise bike I bought, you can either set a calorie or time goal, among other things. I’m going to set a 75 (or 80)-calorie goal. I may as well work my way up. Basically, I burned 60 calories in 14 minutes, alternating between 2 and 4 levels. Damn, how many calories can I burn doing like a 10 level? I can’t wait to find out…

In other news, I’m back to drinking. Not a lot though. I’ve been doing good on just a couple of shots of glasses or wine per day. I wish I could go a whole week without drinking anything.

As for weight, I weighed myself at my friend’s house the other day. I haven’t lost anymore weight yet. I’m not worried, though. I had weighed myself before the exercise bike was delivered, after all…

Stationary Bike

Sorry that I haven’t posted for so long.

I have exciting news, however. I went and bought a stationary bike yesterday - one with all the bells and whistles. It tells you your heart rate, how many calories burned, etc, plus tons of different courses and levels to choose from. I debated whether to get a stationary bike or elliptical machine, and finally decided on the former. (Due to price - the only decent ellipticals they had were well over $900!)

So it’s being delivered next Tuesday. I can’t wait - I plan to start small since I’m in terrible shape now, but eventually work myself up to doing two hour-long rides per day. I managed to get in fantastic shape over this past summer just by riding an actual bike, so I can imagine how good this will be for me with the different courses, resistance levels, etc.

As for eating, I’ve been doing pretty badly for the past few days. I have been doing good though with not drinking much, if at all, except for last night… ugh. Everywhere I go I am plied with alcohol (”Let’s do shots!! is a common phrase heard at my friends’ houses) so it isn’t very easy.

Onto another topic… buying larger clothes. Yesterday, I finally broke down and bought some clothes that fit me since my old ones don’t anymore. Sob. I am officially now a solid 10. Sob. Considering I am 5′5 and have small bones, this is terrible for me. Over the summer, I was fitting in size 6, for crying out loud! So it was very tramautizing yesterday for me. No wonder I got drunk last night!

I Did Good Today

March 2nd, 2007 by Rian | No Comments | Filed in Miscellaneous

OK, so today I woke up feeling pretty decent for a change. So my “diet” started anew.

I decided to go back to my original “five/six meals a day, carbs in the morning, protein/fat at night” diet. I got the most amazing results from this diet a couple of years ago - went from 155 to 135 in a matter of a month or two. And the funny thing is, you eat - a lot - on this diet. Who would have thought eating could make you lose weight?

So I’m giving it a try again. Today’s menu looked like this for me:

Breakfast (2pm):
Two waffles - 160
Sugar-free syrup - 35
Spray butter - 0
Coffee w/cream: 45
Total: 240

2nd meal: (4:30pm):
2 pancakes - 200
Sugar-free syrup - 35
Spray butter - 0
Few slices of canned pear - 60
Total: 295

Lunch: (7pm):
Turkey/Pepper/Onion stir fry - 225
Cottage cheese - 225

Snack: (9pm):
3 cheese sticks - 330 (I’m addicted to cheese)

Dinner: (in a short while)
3 slices ready-made bacon - 70
Garden Veggie Egg Beaters - 90 (that’s 3 servings, too!)
Total: 160

TODAY’S TOTAL: 1250 CALORIES

Not bad… I don’t usually get up so late, but I was literally up all night last night (insomnia, due to my stupid alcohol withdrawal which has also messed up my sleeping patterns).

Those garden veggie egg beater things are really tasty and super low calorie. You can make a large omelette which is about 3 servings or so, and you are still only up to 90 calories.

Anyway, I’m going to try and stay around 1200-1400 calories because I don’t want to lose weight too fast and get sick. As for vitamins and meds, I take 2 or 3 magnesium/calcium/zinc supplements a day.

Tomorrow I’m supposed to be up early to try and register for some University classes. Since I slept so late today, I have no clue how I’m going to get up early. But I have to try… the class starts next week!

Lost Two Pounds (And I’ll Never Drink Alcohol Again)

My friend’s scale said I lost two pounds. I know it’s water weight, however. I am currently going through an alcohol detox which has completely screwed my body up. Ever go through one of those after months of regular drinking? It sucks… migraines, water retention, anxiety, high blood pressure, heart palpitations…

However, with the agony I went through last night, I doubt I will ever touch an alcoholic drink again. Seriously. I’m glad I went through it - my drinking was seriously messing up my weight loss, not to mention just causing me to feel ill most days. Earlier yesterday (Wed) evening someone offered me a drink, and I was easily able to turn them down, based on the memory of my detox withdrawals.

I also went to the Oral Surgeon yesterday (Wed) and found out that I have a root canal/socket infection, which is what has been causing me slight facial swelling and some discomfort. So I will be on Amoxicillin for the next few weeks until I could afford to spend $1800 on root/gum surgery. Fun fun fun! Actually the root/gum surgery alone doesn’t cost that much - I’m also getting my other two impacted wisdom teeth out and being put to sleep.

My low carb diet was blown to smithereens on Tuesday day when I woke up with the worst headache in the history of mankind… I was forced to guzzle gatorade and eat crackers all day long. Both are no-no’s on a low carb diet. So I’m back to square one. But I don’t care, dammit. I’m finally alcohol free.
