Update

Well, I suppose I should be out drinking with 90% of the rest of the population right now (since it’s St. Patrick’s Day and all) but I’m not. I’m glad that I’m not, too. Just taking a break and staying home is healthy once in a while.

So, onto diet stuff… My eating habits have slightly improved, but not near enough. I got a craving for macaroni and cheese earlier today so I ate a couple of helpings of that… ugh. (I’m so addicted to the Kraft Deluxe brand, it’s bad).

However, the stationary exercise bike rides are going great. I did two 15-minute courses today - one right after another - so it was basically a 30-minute workout.

My first 15 minutes was doing the Strength Interval Training at Level 2. I burned 50 calories in approx. 14 1/2 minutes. (I actually stopped before the 15 min because I wanted to switch courses). Then I did about 15 minutes on the Pyramid course at a level 3 resistance. I like that one a lot better - it takes you up through 5 levels of resistance and is always changing, so it’s not boring at all. I burned 60 calories on that one.

I think I will do one more 10 minute workout a few hours before I go to bed. (I can tell I’m going to become super-addicted to this exercise bike).

I haven’t weighed myself since my last weight post simply because I don’t have a scale at the moment. I have a love-hate relationship with the scale, and mostly prefer to go by clothing sizes to see what shape I’m in. Considering I’m roughly in an adult size 10 right now (sob), but was fitting into size 6 over the summer means… I gained a hell of a lot of weight in just a few months. Somewhere in the range of 22 pounds.

I may not be obese or even fat to many people, but I’m one of those people who have a lot of aches and pains and problems even at this weight of 160 on a 5′5 frame. I have trouble getting comfortable at night in bed sometimes; I get out of breath just walking up a hill to and from the store; I get a lot of headaches and stomachaches.

I’m pleased to report that even after only 4 or 5 days on the bike, my short-of-breath situation has been resolved on the walk to the store down the street. I mean, you know you are in terrible shape if walking 5 minutes to and from a store makes you a bit short on breath. Thankfully, it doesn’t anymore.

I will be buying a scale in the next few days and will update on my weight as soon as I do!
